Chart 2. Neighbourhood Environment, Functional Capability and Outdoor Time
Chart 2 shows the relationship between the mean number of hours per week spent outside and the supportiveness of the environment. The supportiveness of the environment is split into three types: low, middle and high. The results are shown for older people with high functionality and those with low functionality. In a low supportive environment those with high functionality spent 7.X hours per week outdoors and those with low functionality spent 4.X hours. In a middle supportive environment the hours were 9.X and 4.X respectively, and in a high supportive environment the hours were10.X and 6.X repectively.
